**PREVIOUSLY RELEASED IN 2012 UNDER THE NAME MOONWOOD**

NOTE: This material is still available under the MOONWOOD brand and if you own it in that iteration, this release is redundant. Except for the artwork, It has not been remixed, altered, or remastered in any way, shape or form.

Trans Martian History:
In 2012 my psychedelic folk project MOONWOOD released an EP of kraut-inspired motorik spacerock. It was called "Trans Lunar Express" as a not too subtle nod to obvious influences and statement of purpose. It was well received and I followed it up with an album called "Trans Martian Express" which was kindly put out by Pleasance Records on cassette, again under the project name MOONWOOD*.

To this day, I'm not sure why I didn't release both as HEAVY MOON as they suit the psychedelic space rock aesthetic far better than the improv acid-folk aesthetic. Indeed, variations on these sounds turn up on HEAVY MOON recordings time and time again. I think it was simply that in 2012 I hadn't yet set up a Bandcamp for HEAVY MOON (which would happen in 2015 with the release of "Heavy Moon 7").

I've always felt this album and EP belonged in the HEAVY MOON discography, nestled between volumes 4 & 5, and have long debated revising this period of my discographical history. I was wary of it due to MOONWOOD, and the Pleasance cassette, being so associated with the album. But, a decade on, I suspect people have forgotten about these recordings enough, if not entirely, that I can release them under the HEAVY MOON banner without causing confusion. So here they are, in honour of their ten year anniversaries, together as HEAVY MOON 4.5.

~Jakob Rehlinger, 2022

* There was also a MOONWOOD EP titled "Trans Venus Express", the existence of which has been buried—though savvy treasure hunters can still find it under a different guise. As well, to confuse matters further, "Heavy Moon 5" was originally released digitally as MOONWOOD's "Trans Wasteland Express" and also (why stop at two?) as "Cosmic Dragons" on a split cassette on the Jeunesse Cosmique label.
